Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register/sign up/pay in advance for the Intro to Belly Dance class on Tuesdays & Thursd

Not yet! Just like many businesses, we had to close temporarily during the COVID lockdown. At this time, we are joyously rebuilding our student base and have room in all of our classes. When we do begin to experience overcrowding, we will start the reservation process immediately to ensure the continuation of quality instruction.

How much are classes? How do I pay?

Cash pricing for a drop in is just $13.00. A 5 class card is $58.00 and a 10 class card is $110.00. Our Second Saturday workshops are typically $25.00 and must be reserved in advance. We accept Pay Pal and Venmo on our site, and cash or Square in person.  Cash is preferred to avoid online processing fees.

What should I wear to class?

The ideal dress attire is leggings and a form fitting tee shirt with ballet flats, dance paws, or socks. It is best if you can see the outline of your body while learning the isolations needed for those mesmerizing belly dance moves. Socks may be worn for easy turns, though they can become slippery. Ballet flats or your favorite dance shoes may be worn as well. Because we are in an older building, it can be a bit warm in the summer and colder in the winter, so we encourage all dancers to to dress in layers. Also, if your hair is up we can see your arms, shoulders, head and neck for any corrections of posture that may be necessary.

What should I bring to class?

Water, a notebook and a pen. We often teach specific names and give additional information that you may wish to jot down. The notepad on your phone is fine too, whatever method works best for you.

You are invited to wear a hip scarf to make your time in class extra special.

What is offered besides the intro classes?

We have dancers learning at every level. We offer a choreography series twice a year as well as a specialty workshop on the Second Saturday of each month. We will have an intermediate level class beginning 1/4/24 for those that have successfully completed at least 12 weeks of introduction to belly dance classes. We also have our competition troupe which travels to perform and compete several times per year.

Are there performance opportunities for students?

YES! Twice a year (in June and November), we have our student showcases which may also feature some exciting local stars from Chico.  We offer a performance opportunity as the culmination to each choreography series. We hope you will join us soon!
